Saturday breakfast is the big meal of the week and can set you up for the whole weekend. Try this variation from Alex James, who swears by his fried bread!
Ingredients
- 2 rashers belly bacon
- 2 chipolatas
- 3-4 tomatoes of varying sizes
- 1 egg
- 3-4 mushrooms
- Cooked potatoes
- Medium sliced white bread with crusts cut off (optional)
- Bread for toast
WEIGHT CONVERTER
Method
- Fry the mushrooms in a separate pan and add finely chopped rosemary for the last few minutes. Alex fries the chipolatas gently, the bacon on medium and the potatoes on high. He thinks tomatoes work best seasoned with salt and sugar on the cut surface and then grilled.
- To make the perfect fried bread, you need a medium sliced white with the crusts cut off. Toast it before flipping it around in the juices you’ve saved from frying everything else: It’s ready when it’s golden brown.
Top Tip for making Alex James’ full English breakfast
You can substitute any of the ingredients you don't like for some that you do, such as baked beans or hash browns.
