Meghan Markle shared a throwback video of herself as a little girl to celebrate very special cause
Meghan Markle has shared a throwback video on the Sussex Royal Instagram account to mark International Day of the Girl.
- Today (11 October) is International Day of the Girl, and the Sussex Royal Instagram account showed solidarity by sharing a video.
- The video showed footage of Meghan Markle as a child talking about sexism.
- This follows royal news that Kate Middleton has an exciting ‘secret’ project in the works and it’s all about children’s early years.
The inspirational video shared by Sussex Royal featured many inspirational women, young and old, including those that the Duke and Duchess had met during their recent royal tour.
It also had clips from Meghan’s 2015 speech about equality, which she delivered at the UN Women Conference, and her 1993 Nickelodeon appearance.
Meghan had written a letter when she was 11-years-old, criticising Procter and Gamble for the language used in their Ivory dish soap.
At the time, she said, “If you see something that you don't like or offended by on television or any other place, write letters and send them to the right people and you can really make a difference, not just for yourself but for lots of other people”.

The caption for the video read, ‘Today is International #DayoftheGirl, a day observed globally and created by the United Nations to acknowledge the gender inequality that exists worldwide. Be it lack of access to education, stigma surrounding Menstrual Hygiene Management, forced child marriage, legal or medical inequality, or gender-based violence, there is a pressing need to support young women in their path to excellence.’

It is also a day to celebrate and encourage girls to know their value and to support them in taking action to grow into the women they wish to be.
They added, ‘The Duchess of Sussex has been a long time advocate for women’s and girls rights and at the age of eleven campaigned against a sexist advertisement, which was then changed. No matter what age, or what background you have the power to make an impact.
'HRH recently shared a quote during a speech in Cape Town: “Visualize your highest self, and show up as her.”’
'Sussex Royal concluded the inspirational post by saying, ‘To all of the young girls reading this today on International Day of the Girl, that quote is for you.’
Recently, Meghan Markle admitted that life as a working mum is ‘a lot’, but we think she’s doing such an amazing job!
She and Prince Harry recently returned from their royal visit to South Africa, alongside baby Archie, and we’re really keen to see what they get up to next.
