Jools Oliver designs rainbow romper to raise money for baby charity

The mum-of-five has designed a special bodysuit for Tommy's

Jools Oliver has turned her talents to designing baby clothes to help raise money for charity. The mum-of-five has teamed up with Mothercare to support baby charity Tommy's.

Jools has designed a special bodysuit and £1 from the sale of each one will go towards funding research into pregnancy problems that lead to miscarriage, still birth and premature birth.

Jools' garment is the second limited edition piece to be released this year in her Little Bird clothing range.

The adorable all-in-one features the words 'My rainbow baby' written beneath a multicoloured motif. The term 'rainbow baby' refers to a child born following a miscarriage or stillbirth.

'I'm so proud to be launching this beautiful Little Bird, my rainbow baby bodysuit. The response to the first bodysuit we launched last year was incredible and I was taken aback by some of the heartfelt stories that were shared with us,' says Jools.

'Tragically 1 in 4 women loses a baby during pregnancy or birth and when that happens it changes the lives of so many families. Tommy's is a wonderful charity that funds much needed research into pregnancy problems and provides important pregnancy health information to parents. I am so happy we are able to work together again.'

It's unsurprising that the cause is close to Jools' heart - she was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome at the age of 17 and went on to lose a baby herself.

'I had a miscarriage at three months, which makes you so worried once you are pregnant again - it makes it impossible to enjoy the early stages of pregnancy,' Jools revealed in 2017.

Jools and her celebrity chef husband Jamie have five children together. The couple's first, a girl named Poppy Honey, was born in 2002 and they welcomed Daisy Boo in 2003.

Petal Blossom became the duo's third child in 2009 and they had their first boy, Buddy Bear, in 2010. River Rocket, Jools and Jamie's youngest, arrived in 2016.

The rainbow babysuit is available in sizes newborn up to 12-18 months and retailing at £8 in selected Mothercare stores and online at mothercare.com.
