  • Pregnant Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge has spoken out about leaving son Prince George at the school gates.

Kate, who is currently expecting her third child with husband Prince William, made the comment during an appearance at the Place2Be School Leaders Forum in London, admitting that she’s learned from George’s school experience that it ‘takes a whole community’ to raise a child.

Addressing the audience on stage to open the forum, she remarked: ‘Getting support to children at the very earliest stage helps improve their outcomes in later life.’

‘As a mother getting used to leaving my own child at the school gates, it’s clear to me that it takes a whole community to help raise a child.’

‘Whether we are school leaders, teachers, support staff or parents – we’re all in this together.’

‘We are all working to give children the emotional strength they need to face their futures and thrive.’

The speech was particularly poignant as Kate was forced to miss little George’s first day at primary school Thomas’ Battersea because she was battling with hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe form of morning sickness, during the early stages of her pregnancy.

Prince William dropped the couple’s eldest child off for his first day, but the revelation at this morning’s event means that Kate, who has gradually been returning to her royal duties after the bout of illness, has since been joining the duo on the school run.

Earlier this year, Kate joked that she worried the experience might come as something of a shock to her firstborn, admitting that he ‘wouldn’t know what hit him’ during his first few days of attendance.

Prince William has since revealed that George’s schooling was going ‘well’, although added that his son hadn’t quite realised the regular nature of the establishment.

‘He hasn’t said, “Have I got to do this for the rest of my life?” yet,’ he said during an engagement in September.
