Kensington Palace confirms that Princess Charlotte will start attending nursery in January

The little royal will start school in the new year

Princess Charlotte will begin attending nursery in January, it's been announced by Kensington Palace.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have announced that the little royal will start attending nursery school in the new year, just like her brother did at the same age.

But Charlotte will not be attending the same school as Prince George, as the family have moved in the meantime from Norfolk to live in London full-time.

This time around, the doting parents have picked Willcocks Nursery School in Kensington, West London.

Taking to Twitter to confirm the news, a spokesperson for the couple said: 'Their Royal Highnesses have also announced this morning that Princess Charlotte will attend the Willcocks Nursery School in London from January 2018.

A spokesperson for The Willcocks Nursery School also said: 'We are delighted that The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have chosen the Willcocks Nursery School for Princess Charlotte. We look forward to welcoming Charlotte to our nursery in January.'

The school, which Tatler magazine describes as a 'hidden gem with a mixture of "old English families and chic foreigners"', is situated by the Royal Albert Hall, close to the Cambridges' new home, Kensington Palace.

According to the Daily Mail, Charlotte's new school costs £15,000 a year, and asks parents to come with their children for a short 'stay and play'.

Kate and Wills will then asked to leave if their daughter is happy to be left at the nursery alone.

The school's website says: 'As your child builds a rapport with the teachers, we will ask you to stay in the vicinity for the first few sessions so that you can return if needed.'

The announcement comes after the Cambridges publicly unveiled their Christmas card, taken earlier this year at Kensington Palace, where they pose as a family of four for the last time.

Kate is currently expecting the couple's third child, and is due to give birth next April.
