Duke and Duchess of Cambridge release new snaps of Princess Charlotte to mark her fourth birthday
Kate and Wills' newborn baby girl may just be a matter of days old, but already we're smitten. See our collection of gorgeous baby photos, here...
Kate Middleton and Prince William's only daughter has captured the hearts of the nation (and the world) every time we've gotten a glimpse of her. See our collection of Princess Charlotte's other most adorable moments so far, here...
She is no longer the youngest of the Cambridge clan following the arrival of Prince Louis, but Princess Charlotte doesn't seem like she's going to give up the limelight any time soon.
The little royal often takes centre stage as she plays up to the cameras and gives us a very professional royal wave.
Born Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, she was introduced to us all on the front steps of the Lindo Wing on 2nd May 2015.
Kate, Duchess of Cambridge was reported to be in labour at around 6:30am as the whole world was waiting on word that we had a new baby Prince or Princess in the British Monarchy.
The youngster was born at 8:34am and slept peacefully all the way through her big debut at 6.30pm that evening (and we can't say we blame her, having been born just 10 hours earlier).
And how gorgeous was she? Dark haired like her mum with rosy-red cheeks, and wearing a teeny white bonnet to protect her from the evening chill, little Charlotte was every inch the perfect princess - and she's become more and more adorable ever since.

Princess Charlotte: May 2019
To mark her fourth birthday, Kate and William decided to share a series of gorgeous snaps of their little girl.
Princess Charlotte: May 2019
As usual, the birthday photographs were taken by mum Kate in their country home in Norfolk.
Princess Charlotte: May 2019
Alongside the pictures, Kensington Palace shared the following message: 'The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share three new photographs of Princess Charlotte ahead of her fourth birthday tomorrow.
'The photographs were taken in April by The Duchess at Kensington Palace and at their home in Norfolk.'

Princess Charlotte: 2 May 2015
The royal couple only came out for a few minutes, before briefly returning inside the hospital to get little Charlotte into her car seat for the journey home.
William stood close to Kate throughout with his hand protectively on her back. He was also there to give her a helping hand down the steps outside the hospital.
Such a gentleman!
Princess Charlotte: 2 May 2015
You may have noticed the turnaround with Charlotte's birth was much quicker than with Prince George in 2013.
Several things were different: the media were not allowed to camp outside for weeks on end like last time, but instead were only allowed to move in once it had been officially confirmed that the Duchess was in labour, and the baby was brought out on the same day as her birth.
Princess Charlotte: 2 May 2015
It did seem the Duke and Duchess were keen to make the birth of their second child a little more 'low-key' than last time (if that's ever possible).
They even reportedly hired a new PR man to help manage the event and keep it as simple as they could.
Princess Charlotte: 2 May 2015
Here's the little one all ready to on her first car journey to Kensington Palace, just a short drive from the hospital. William sat in the front with the couple's close protection officer, with Kate and baby in the back.
Thanks to a ruling by the Queen in 2013, Kate and Wills' second child has been given the title Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge. Before this, only the eldest son of the Prince of Wales was able to inherit the title of HRH. Without this ruling, Charlotte would have been known as Lady Mountbatten-Windsor.
Princess Charlotte: 2 May 2015
Upon her birth, Charlotte became fourth in line to the throne, after her grandfather, Prince Charles, father, Prince William, and big brother, Prince George, bumping uncle Harry down to fifth.
Harry was in fact on a visit to Australia when Charlotte arrived - speaking to well-wishers at the Sydney Opera House on 7 May 2015, he said: 'I'm looking forward to meeting her. She's beautiful'.
Prince William's younger brother was handed lots of cuddly toys by members of the public as gifts for the new royal baby. One lady, Anne Woods, gave him a stuffed koala, which Harry said he quite wanted to keep for himself!
Prince George and Princess Charlotte: June 2015
The next glimpse we got of Charlotte were these adorable portraits, released by The Duchess of Cambridge and Kensington Royal on the family's official social media feeds.
Big brother George looked to be smitten with his little sister, Charlotte. And we're not surprised, just look how cute she is!
Prince George and Princess Charlotte: June 2015
The pictures were taken by Kate at the family home in Norfolk in mid-May, when Charlotte would have been around two weeks old.
Many fans noted that it was interesting that little Charlotte was dark-haired like her mum, whereas George, who turned two in July of this year, was fair just like his dad.
Prince George and Princess Charlotte: June 2015
Aww - how sweet are the little royal siblings?
From early on in Charlotte's life, it was clear that Kate and Wills were keen to keep their babies dressed traditionally - just look at George's knee-high socks!
Prince George and Princess Charlotte: June 2015
Around the time these snaps were released, Prince Charles revealed to guests at a tea party hosted at Clarence House that the little princess had been much easier on Kate than her big brother George.
'We were talking about grandchildren, he was saying Princess Charlotte does sleep through the night and it was much easier on mum than Prince George,' a guest explained to Press Association.
Princess Charlotte: July 2015
What a beautiful picture of the Duchess with her little two-month-old daughter. While Kate looked to be in good spirits at Princess Charlotte's christening on 5th July, Charlotte was not quite as impressed, and had a bit of a cry in Kate's arms on the way into the church.
The whole day was filled with references to Princess Diana - William's mother and Princess Charlotte's late grandmother.
Princess Charlotte: July 2015
The couple's choice of location, the church of St Mary Magdalene in Sandringham, was a poignant reference to Diana, as it was the place where the late Princess was baptised in 1961.
The church has long had connections with the royal family, and it's where they can be seen going for their Christmas Day service every year.
Princess Charlotte: July 2015
The choice of music played during the ceremony was also a touching tribute to the late Princess of Wales.
Kate, Wills and their guests listened to Vaughan Williams' Prelude on Rhosymedre, which was played not only at their own wedding, but also at the wedding of the Charles and Diana in 1981.
Here the Archbishop of Canterbury, who conducted the service, smiles at baby Charlotte in her pram.
Princess Charlotte: July 2015
Of course, the ultimate tribute to Diana was in one of the names that Charlotte was christened, Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, after her late grandmother, and the other after her great-grandmother, the Queen.
Princess Charlotte: November 2015
Four months after her christening, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge released two new pictures of their daughter Charlotte at the age of six months - and isn't she a beauty!
The images were shared by the British Monarchy's social media accounts, with the caption:
'The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to be able to share two new photographs of Princess Charlotte.
'They were taken by The Duchess in early November at their home in Norfolk. The Duke and Duchess continue to receive warm messages about Princess Charlotte from all around the world and they hope that everyone enjoys these lovely photos as much as they do.'
And if you think this picture of Charlotte is cute, you should see the next one...
Princess Charlotte: November 2015
Hands up if your heart just melted! This photograph shows Charlotte looking relaxed and happy at Anmer Hall, the family home in Norfolk, giggling away and playing with what appears to be a beloved stuffed toy dog.
Charlotte's cute little floral dress is from m&h, a Spanish brand which specialises in baby and children's clothing, and it costs £21. According to HELLO!, the dress was a present from Prince George's Spanish nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, who bought it in Spain.
It seems that the princess will be dressed in a traditional wardrobe similar to that of her brother George, although their personalities are said to be quite different!
Prince William has previously described Charlotte as 'very ladylike' and 'his little joy of heaven', whereas George is his 'little monkey'.
Princess Charlotte: December 2015
In December 2015 the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge unveiled their first picture as a family of four, and isn't it lovely?
Princess Charlotte can be seen in her trademark floral dress and pale pink cardigan in mum Kate's lap. But despite the image being used for the family's festive greetings it was actually taken in the Autumn of that year.
The message alongside the image read 'A new family photo - Merry Christmas from The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.'
Princess Charlotte: March 2016
In March 2016, the Cambridges shared what might just be their cutest series of photos ever, taken on their first holiday as a family-of-four.
Beautiful 10-month-old Charlotte was pictured in a white ski suit with a knitted pink hat, matching mum Kate's white jacket - although she hadn't quite progressed to a pair of ski goggles just yet!
The family were on a private skiing holiday in the French Alps and, according to royal officials, the holiday was the first time either of the children played in the snow.
Princess Charlotte: March 2016
The pictures from the royal's trip to the French Alps were also some of the only pictures of the children that had not been taken by the Duchess herself.
Instead, Wills and Kate recruited royal photographer John Stillwell, a favourite with the royals, to take the snaps.
Princess Charlotte: May 2016
To celebrate Princess Charlotte's first birthday the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge released four new adorable photos of Princess Charlotte.
Princess Charlotte: May 2016
The series of pictures, which were released by Kensington Palace, once again showed Princess Charlotte at the Duke and Duchess' home in Norfolk. The photos were taken in April 2016.
Princess Charlotte: May 2016
Snapped with a blue bow in her hair and a beautiful cream cardigan, these pictures provided a rare intimate insight into family life in the royal household.
'We hope everyone enjoys these lovely photos as much as we do,' the family said when the sweet snaps were shared online.
Princess Charlotte: June 2016
Princess Charlotte made her Trooping the Colour debut in June 2016, clad in a cute pink dress that matched the pastel outfit of mum Kate.
She looked excited to be on the iconic balcony watching the planes fly overhead - although the same can't be said for big bro George, who looked distinctly unimpressed!
Princess Charlotte: June 2016
Charlotte and Kate were two peas in a pod during the public appearance, although it was around this time that fans started noticing that Charlotte also bore a striking resemblance to another member of the family - her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.
Princess Charlotte: September 2016
Later that year, the Cambridge family took a visit to Canada - here they're seen disembarking what would have been 16-month-old Charlotte's first ever long-haul flight!
The visit was the also first official royal tour for 16-month-old Charlotte - elder brother George, three, already accompanied Kate and William to Australia and New Zealand back in 2014.
At the time, a statement was released which referred to the trip as a great opportunity for Kate and William 'to introduce their children to a major realm before things like school make this difficult later on.'
Princess Charlotte: September 2016
One of the highlights of the trip was the family's attendance at a children's tea party.
Princess Charlotte was dressed in a smart blue dress and cardigan for the occasion, which mirrored the shades of William and George's jumper. Kate, meanwhile, went for classic white for the group appearance.
Princess Charlotte: September 2016
Charlotte was pictured having a whale of a time at the celebration, and took a particular interest in a huge balloon arch at the entrance, which she patted happily whilst grinning up at her proud parents.
Princess Charlotte: September 2016
The royal children were also treated to activities including a petting zoo animals and entertainment from clowns, as well as displays of bubbles, which certainly caught the eye of little George.
Charlotte also made friends with a fluffy white dog, whom she was seen cuddling under the watchful eye of Kate.
Princess Charlotte: October 2016
Off again! At the beginning of October, Charlotte and co departed from their Canadian tour and headed home to the UK.
Every inch the professional, the tot smiled and waved for the assembled crowds, following a perfect demonstration from her mum and dad.
Princess Charlotte: December 2016
Princess Charlotte's final appearance of 2016 was on Christmas Day, during a church visit to St Mark's church in Englefield, Berkshire, where they were joined by the Middleton family and Pippa Middleton's fiancé James Matthews.
When they emerged after the service, Charlotte looked thrilled to have been handed a candy cane as a festive treat - a girl after our own hearts!
Princess Charlotte: May 2017
Kensington Palace released this new portrait of Princess Charlotte on the day before her second birthday on May 2nd 2017.
Writing on the Royal Family's social media channels, they said: 'The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to share a new photograph of Princess Charlotte to mark her second birthday tomorrow.'
'The photograph was taken in April by The Duchess at their home in Norfolk. The Duke and Duchess are very pleased to share this photograph as they celebrate Princess Charlotte's second birthday.'
'Their Royal Highnesses would like to thank everyone for all of the lovely messages they have received, and hope that everyone enjoys this photograph of Princess Charlotte as much as they do.'
The image showed the young princess sitting on a hay bale, with side-parted hair clipped with a navy blue bow and an adorable yellow knitted cardigan from none other than high street favourite John Lewis.
However, it's bad news if you're hoping to get your hands on the same one, as it sold out moments after the picture was shared!
Princess Charlotte: May 2017
Kate couldn't help but beam with pride as she watched her daughter play the role of bridesmaid in sister Pippa's wedding.
Charlotte was a central part of auntie Pippa's service, held at St Mark's Church in Englefield, and didn't she look sweet in her little white dress and floral headband?
Princess Charlotte: May 2017
The Duchess took on the role of overseer of the group of pageboys and bridesmaids, who included, of course, Charlotte's brother George.
She led the group into the church, whilst husband William and his brother Harry arrived separately. However, Kate was not thought to have been a bridesmaid herself, despite Pippa acting as her maid of honour when she tied the knot in 2011.
Princess Charlotte: May 2017
The picture that melted a thousand hearts! Princess Charlotte looked excited to be wearing such a fancy get-up as she stood with her mum outside the venue.
We just can't get over her frilly collar and flower crown - could the little princess be any more picture perfect?
Princess Charlotte: June 2017
Charlotte made her next public appearance at Trooping the Colour in June, which is held every year in honour of her grandmother's birthday.
The little princess, two, laughed and played with her parents and brother George as they watched the impressive air display from the royal balcony.
Princess Charlotte: June 2017
Both Charlotte and George seemed transfixed by the occasion, looking to the sky under the watchful eye of mum Kate and dad William.

Princess Charlotte: May 2018
Two weeks after Prince Louis’ birth, Kensington Palace released two official pictures of the new royal which were taken on Princess Charlotte’s third birthday on May 2.
Prince Louis looks adorable in cute white outfit, while Charlotte is wearing her brother Prince George’s navy blue cardigan. The toddler gently kisses her baby brother on the forehead as they relax at home.
