Aldi limits customers to only two boxes of halloumi fries each after high demand

Budget supermarket Aldi has announced that they will be limiting one of their most popular products, Halloumi Fries, to only two boxes per person.

The limitation is currently down to a surge in popularity since the product was introduced earlier this summer. Aldi was one of the first supermarkets in the UK to sell halloumi fries and in June.

At the time, Aldi UK buyer Julie Ashfield said: ‘Halloumi is very popular right now and we are delighted to be the first supermarket to bring our customers halloumi fries, a snack we think will be a big hit this summer and which isn’t currently available from any other supermarkets.’

Costing just £1.99 Aldi’s halloumi fries flew off supermarket shelves, leaving suppliers struggling to keep up with the high demands.

A spokeswoman for the store said: ‘I can confirm that as of now halloumi fries are being limited in stores to two boxes per person. This is to ensure that all customers have the chance to try this popular product for themselves.

Aldi is now dealing with a lot of disappointment and complaints from customers. Stores in Cheltenham, Gloucester, Tewkesbury, Cirencester, Moreton-in-Marsh and Ross-on-Wye have mostly been impacted by the lack of supplies and local customers took to social media to share their complaints.

Due to the number of complaints, Aldi took action and decided to limit its halloumi fries to only two boxes per person across all UK stores so as many customers as possible are able to enjoy the product and to stop customers from bulk buying the product which seemed to be happening more and more over the summer period.

Aldi’s popular halloumi fries are made with the rich cheese and covered in a lightly seasoned coating making them extra crispy – it’s no wonder customers have been so keen to try them.
