The kids are going to love making these sweet fruity bites with mummy. This no-bake recipe means no ovens or microwaves to worry about too

These no-bake sweet, fruity bites are so simple to make. There's no need for an oven or microwave, you just need to let them set in the fridge. Your child is going to love helping out at every stage, especially when sampling the finish product! You can teach them the art of crushing biscuits, measuring ingredients and chopping fruits, if they're old enough.   • 397g tin condensed milk
  • 14 digestive biscuits
  • 40g cornflakes
  • 6 dried apricots (roughly 45g)
  • 6 glacé cherries (roughly 35g)
  • 25g raisins
  • 75g-100g desiccated coconut




  1. Empty your tin of condensed milk into a mixing bowl. No need to weigh this gloopy substance as we are using it all, every last sticky drop.
  2. Ask your little one to help count out the 14 biscuits and pop them into a polythene bag - a sandwich or freezer bag is ideal.
  3. Furnish your child with a rolling pin and get them to take out their many frustrations on the biscuits. Digestives are fairly soft, so it shouldn't take too much muscle. Once their face has taken on a rosy glow and they have created a bag full of biscuit crumbs, they can then pour the crumbs into the awaiting bowl.
  4. Your child can mix the biscuit crumbs into the condensed milk while you weigh the cornflakes. See if your little one can crunch the cornflakes with their hands as they add them to the bowl. It doesn't matter if there are a few big bits!
  5. If your child is old and wise enough to use kitchen scissors or a knife then they can snip up the apricots and cherries. My little boy is only three so this was a job for Mummy. His job was to add them to the bowl, along with the raisins.
  6. The mixture will by now be very stiff, so I think you may have to assist with the stirring at this point. Once all the ingredients have combined, place the bowl in the fridge for an hour or two to firm up even more.
  7. When the mixture has firmed up, take from the fridge and put to one side while you weigh the desiccated coconut onto a plate.
  8. Use a teaspoon to scoop up heaped spoonfuls of the sticky mixture. Roll into a ball before rolling it through the coconut - you get used to the stickiness after a while!
  9. After you have shown your child what to do, get them to roll the mixture into balls. They will love getting sticky! It's also great fun to turn the fruity bites into snowballs by rolling them in the coconut. This was my little boy’s favourite part.
  10. As these bites do not contain any cream or butter they can be left out of the fridge for a few days in an airtight container.
