This Morning has been cancelled to make room in ITV schedule.

ITV announced that the popular daytime show has been cancelled due to the arrival of the Rugby World Cup.

The morning show, which usually airs every weekday morning and has long-time presenting couple Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford host the Friday segment, will not be airing today in an effort to make room in ITV scheduling for the sporting tournament.

Ahead of the yesterday’s instalment of the lifestyle show, ITV made a statement announcing that the show would not be airing ‘tomorrow’, i.e. today.

In a statement announcing the news, ITV said: ‘Time for our last This Morning of the week just a second because tomorrow at 10.25am the Rugby World Cup 2019 gets underway with the opening ceremony in Tokyo.’

Lunchtime show Loose Women, which sees its popular female panel discuss current affairs and latest celebrity news, will also not be airing today as a result of the international rugby tournament.

Replacing the two daytime talk shows, today’s rugby opening ceremony, which will be airing from Japan’s capital city Tokyo, will be followed by the opening game of the Rugby World Cup, which will take place between Russia and the hosting country Japan.

Unfortunately any England rugby fans won’t be rewarded for their lack of daytime natter with the chance to dip into their patriotic side and support a game today, as the country’s first game won’t be until later in the weekend.

England will be playing their first game in this year’s Rugby World Cup on Sunday, taking on Tonga’s rugby team.

And to add to any This Morning fans’ disappointment, the programme will also not be airing on Monday, as the Wales rugby team will be playing Georgia at 10.25am, so ITV will be airing that game rather than gracing our screens with a fix of Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

Naturally, fans are not impressed, taking to Twitter to express the disappointment at the changes.
