This is a classic martini, served straight up (without ice). Some like it served with a salty green olive, some like a twist of lemon peel, slightly squeezed to release the lemon oils. A standard martini is a mix of 5 parts gin to 1 part dry martini. James Bond asked for his martini to be shaken, in a cocktails shaker and not stirred, but the choice is yours! A dirty martini contains a splash of the olive brine, a wet martini has more vermouth added. A vodka martini uses vodka instead of gin.

Top Tip for making Martini

The term dry martini refers to the amount of vermouth added. Martinis used to be made with sweet martini, but it is now more popular to use dry vermouth.
