Beyonce’s father Mathew Knowles has revealed that he is battling with breast cancer.

The 67-year-old music mogul, who is father to pop icon Beyoncé, 38, and her younger sister, Solange, 33, opened up about the disease during an interview on Good Morning America.

The chat, which is set to air today, saw Michael reveal his diagnosis on the first day of Breast Cancer Awareness month, which will run throughout October.

Breast cancer in men is rare, but males are more at risk of dying from the condition than women.

In a sneak peak of the intimate interview, Mathew is asked how he broke the news of his illness to Beyoncé and Solange.

Responding to the video clip posted on Twitter, users shared details of their own experience with male breast cancer.

‘Thank you guys for bringing attention to this - my husband was diagnosed in February of 2018. 🙏🏼,’ one wrote.

While a second chipped in, ‘I too am a male survivor. I was diagnosed at 32. Tell him to keep his head up. The days get brighter.’

Earlier this year, Mathew opened up about the close bond he has with both of his daughters, explaining that Solange’s success is often overlooked.

He said: ‘I have a great relationship as a father with not just Beyoncé, but people forget I have this talented, gifted kid named Solange, who is a Grammy winner and has had a number one album. People tend to think she does not exist.

‘It's not a daily dialogue. Daughters tend to always gravitate to their moms more than their dads. I think it's pretty standard in the universe, my relationship.'

Mathew, who was once the music manager of both Beyoncé and Solange, also confessed that he struggled to see the line between business and family life.

‘The most challenging thing was separating and walking the line from manager to father. That's very difficult in the music industry. If I had to do it all over again, I would change nothing because I believe failure is an opportunity to grow, not a reason to quit.

‘Most people when they make mistakes, they want to quit rather than learn from it.’
